Two points:
1.
Of the three proposed changes to the Greenbelt, I am most concerned about the move to redesignate lands in the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan Area that could be suitable for residential development in the near term. Has the government undertaken environmental impact of the change, especially on the GTA. As former city planner Jennifer Keesmaat has stated: "The Ontario Greenbelt is a system - a system that enables growth in other, more urban areas. Hacking away at the integrity of it here and there poisons the entire system, including the viability of a region with densities that support exceptional public transit." Has the Ministry of Municipal Affairs considered higher density housing development in such areas as the Scarborough Subway line?
2.
Has the government provided records of its consultation with Indigenous rights holders regarding these changes? Ontario has a Duty to Consult before development begins. The province has to demonstrate a record of consultation that is fulsome and meaningful.
