I wish to express my opposition to this proposal.
The Greenbelt was created and has remained in existence for important reasons. They are to provide the people of this province with fresh air, clean water, valuable fertile farmland, and outdoor recreation.
The existing problem of a shortage of good, affordable housing can be addressed without allowing development in the Greenbelt. The Conservative government is using this housing problem to pass a bill that profits a group of greedy developers who want to build on this protected land.
I expect the elected officials in our province to work in the best interests of the majority of its citizens, not pander to the desires of a elite few. This proposal is ill conceived, partisan, and harmful to our environment and the people of Ontario. I am strongly opposed to it.
