There is no good reason to remove lands from the protection currently afforded them by the Oakridges Conservation Plan. There is plenty of land currently with in urban boundaries for new housing. We need more affordable housing and this is created by making it easier to build small apartment buildings, duplexes and triplexes everywhere that is zoned residential.
We do need land that is protected from development for recreation, water resource protection, natural habitat protection etc.
With climate change protection of natural lands becomes more and more important to prevent flooding.
This is a handout to developers who should instead be made to develop the housing we need in existing urban areas.
