I am quite opposed to Bill 4 which will completely reduce Ontario's commitment to take part in positive climate change initiatives.

As we hear more and more about the tremendous effects of climate change around the world, including rising sea levels putting pressure on coastal communities, severe weather events around the world and most importantly perhaps the increase in migration of populations due to the impact of unprecedented environmental issues I feel Ontario must step up to the plate and not away from it.

It was distressing to hear of the initial cancellation of the GreenON program which allowed average homeowners to upgrade their houses in an effort to reduce energy consumption.

It was distressing to hear of the cancellation of alternative energy forms like wind farms.

It was distressing to know my government pulled out of the carbon "tax" program which sets our province back considerably in the generation of new jobs in a growing field (California is a world leader in this area).

I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.

I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.

I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.

I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050.

I want Ontario to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.

We are taking a step backwards if Bill 4 passes. I am completely opposed to the Ontario governments efforts to negate the effects of climate change.
