Considering the changes to the population of our country it is understandable that certain areas designated as greenbelt make no sense at all, while other areas are developed. I would like to point to Grimsby in particular. As much of the prime farm lands below the escarpment are bulldozered over for development, it would certainly be a shame and catastrophic to uproot the last remaining orchards along the Hwy 8 corridor.

On the escarpment most lands are not really greenspace at all, but just empty fields and which really is mostly shale and not very conducive to farming.. The areas of Ridge Rd. W. from Woolverton Rd, heading West on the Southern side is an area begging for development. Given the close proximity to town, it makes perfect sense to develop the Southern side of Ridge Rd. thereby also easing the congestion of the areas below. The North side given the trees canopy should certainly not be touched as it true green space. As well Hamilton is growing on the escarpment so eventually that link makes sense.

Allowing for single and multi-family homes would also increase the amount of trees planted and potential park space on the escarpment. It would be a win-win for both the environment as well as people!
