I am writing to voice my opposition to Bill 23.

The greenbelt is an essential part of Ontario's environment providing invaluable ecological services including clean water, clean air, carbon sequestration, and habitat for countless species. The environment and climate change are major crises of our time, and so too is affordable housing. Affordable housing is a right and urgent need for all Ontarians. Housing is critical for health equity, social well-being, economic growth, and basic human dignity.

We are at the point of crisis for both climate change and affordable housing. Any proposed plan MUST address both. And the good news is that we can address both by creating smart, integrated zoning that efficiently improves housing and supports climate resilience in Ontario.

Bill 23 falls horribly short on both fronts. We can do better. We must do better.
