Please, please, do not take away existing greenbelt property for housing! There is already 88,000 acres in the Golden Horseshoe area that have been approved for housing. Interference with the wetlands will result in poor future flood control, making some of the proposed houses in danger of flood damage in the future.
The issue of housing affordability, which is Premier Ford’s excuse for allowing developers to encroach into the protected greenbelt, is a joke because these houses likely will
be out of reach to the future immigrants that we desperately need to help with the economy. As well, we need viable farms with good soil to produce our food, such as the Holland Marsh.
It is blatantly clear that only the developers will gain from Bill 23. Ford has received loads of
campaign money from many of them and is clearly in their pockets. Shame on Mr Ford
for breaking his promise to protect the wetlands and the greenbelt!
