I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Act. These lands were to be protected from development to preserve their ecological and cultural integrity. Not only does opening these lands for development jeopardize their ecological function but it is also a blatant contradiction of an election promise from the PC government. If the PC government cannot be trusted to leave the Greenbelt intact, they cannot be trusted to protect these lands from future development proposals. What is the purpose of the Greenbelt if the government continues to chip away at it?
