I am against any further removal of the Greenbelt areas. What is needed is to designate more greenbelt areas. The Greenbelt areas were put in place to protect these areas. They are needed to protect further destruction of the environment, quality of life in southern Ontario, and future Economic sustainability.
Most of Southern Ontario WAS some of the best agricultural land in Canada. Now we are importing more food from out of country and adding more people to feed. That did not make sense to me in the 60's, and it makes less sense now.
Adding the 413 will only help transportation marginally until it gets clogged by the proposed housing.
Southern Ontario has grown rampantly beyond its infrastructure limits and because of this we already have an affordable housing shortage.
The only people that will benefit from the proposals will be the developers in short term. The majority of the population will be affected negatively, especially in the long term.
If the proposals are implemented there is no going back. What little is left will be gone.
A more sustainable plan should be developed BEFORE going ahead.
Short term gain for long term permanent pain.
The only solution at his time is to curb growth. It is not needed and is a step backwards.
