I strongly oppose the Amendments to the current Greenbelt plan for the following reasons:

1. Poorly planned as greenbelt space that will be taken has not been replaced nearby. the new Greenbelt space being added is only in one area. The new area being added should be near the space that you propose to take, so the local residents can use the space.
2. Trees are needed near cities for the environment as trees are needed to clean the air
3. farm land is needed near cities to feed everyone.
4. Plans to build single family homes uses too much land and the Ont. government should look to Europe for examples of how to plan urban sprawl more effectively. More townhouses, low rise apartments or condo buildings should be used here more in the Golden Horseshoe. Canadians need more townhouses and low rise housing as the prices are less than single family homes. Not every family needs nor can afford a 1 million-2 million house but they are more likely to afford a townhouse/condo. If this government truly wants to offer more affordable housing they should be looking at all price points and not letting Developers primarily or only offer single family homes
5. Doug Ford said publicly that he wouldn't touch the GreenBelt as he acknowledged the public didn't want it changed. Now that he got re-elected he seems to have conveniently forgotten his promise made. I counted on his word & so let me be clear --- in the next election he will not be re-elected as a result of this GreenBelt Plan.
6. It's high suspicious that property developers knew in advance to buy large plots of land worth tens of millions before these changes were publicly announced. That isn't a coincidence. Developers make plans for their property purchases so it makes the public question the legitimacy of the need for these changes as it seems it's meant to help developers, not the public.
7. The public doesn't need to continue to live near the current cities in the golden horseshoe. why aren't the province and property developers starting small communities or towns near the Golden Horseshoe but on the other side of the current greenbelt. People will commute if needed and currently a lot of people want to work at home which isn’t likely to change in the future. People don’t want to work near their colleagues if their health can be at risk and their families health too if they bring home a virus.
