Bill 23 does not address the housing crisis in Ontario. It is driven by developers who are very powerful in our province. The money will be generated by the production of high priced, low density homes. This will not provide affordable homes within urban setting that our children can afford. This will increase greenhouse emissions as the transportation will be automobile rather than public transit. Bill 23 reduces the power of our Conservation Authority without protecting wetland, farmland, protected and endangered species. Bill 23 reduces the power of municipalities. The costs will be downloaded to local tax bases and the province will have the power to build without public consultation.
There are no winners in this bill except the wealthy Ford political contributors.
Protection of the Greenbelt should be a non-partisan planning decision. I STRENUOUSLY OBJECT TO THE PASSING OF SUCH A SIGNIFICANT BILL WITHOUT PUBLIC CONSULTATION!
