Please do not cancel Ontario's participation in the Cap and Trade system.
- We need action now on climate change, not more studies, planning and delay.
- The cap-and-trade market works. It may not be the theoretically best solution but it is a good one, and has the benefit of being in place, operating sucessfully and including two other large economies.
- I really object to using my money to reimburse companies for destroying the value of their already-purchased credits. But if the government chooses to destroy that property, there is no choice but to waste tax money this way.
- Anything you do instead will come with costs, either direct or hidden. Hidden costs tend to be worse (eg, the old hidden MST was far bigger economic drag that the GST that replaced it).
- People and businesses need regulatory certainty. I can't plan my medium- and long-term business or personal purchases when the rules and associated
