Mr. Ford's actions will have a direct impact on the next generation, in which they will suffer from air pollution, severe weather patterns and reduced biodiversity in Ontario. In the short term, he will win popular votes from people who do not want to pay for higher gasoline price, but instead of educating people what approach we can take to move the society away from gasoline dependent world, he will put our children at more risk.
I switched to EV car this year prior to the cancellation of the Cap and Trade program, and I am very happy to see many more EV cars appeared on the road because of the incentive program. This means people are thinking about environment and taking actions to achieve a sustainable lifestyle. Ontario's economy can be structured in the way that is sustainable, however the current Ontario government is too near sighted about how to develop the economy.
A bill like this threatens not only our health but also the animals that call Ontario home. They do not have a voice like us, and thus they are rapidly disappearing. I believe humans have cause already enough harm to this planet, and finally we are at a turning point to recognize this mistake. If Mr.Ford's plan is to progress backwards, I hope he realizes that he is bringing many lives (human, animal or plants) that could have flourished for many years to the end quickly.
