There is no way the greenbelt can be "moved" let alone in that short a period of time. There is plenty of room for expansion of homes WITHOUT compromising the greenbelt. There has never been a greenbelt "proposal" that has worked. You cannot rewire wildlife to understand their home has moved. The plants, the ecosystem, the water system. You can't pick up the credit river and move it all to Paris Ontario. Already we have instances where trout and salmon migration patterns have changed due to new damns going in and confusing the wildlife. Only dying before they have a chance to spawn because they can't get there. There is no way that we can construct the roads, build hospitals, grocery stores, public transit in that short window of time. I'm not sure why this has been sped up, other than it's Fords friends who have conveniently purchased. the greenbelt, and conveniently been financed shortly before passing the "fast forward" of the builds. It is already seen in North Brampton, where expansion has happened so quickly, single lane roads are jammed. Garbage pick up can't keep up and trash is thrown on the side of the roads. Crime has increased. Children are being bussed from where we are in caledon 45 minutes to get to school. How will this all be alleviated by building more homes? We don't have the plans or the infrastructure for this to occur at the alarming rate that Ford has decided to speed this up. I understand if planned correctly we can do things right. But these money hungry people don't care about what they are doing for our future generations. The noise pollution, the air pollution. None of this is being looked at. I remember as a child driving home to Toronto and you knew you were getting close from the line of "smog" that lined the city, and now you are planning on doing that to the great North. The Greenspace protection was put into place to protect the Greenspace. To protect the beauty of Ontario. Now, because of money, greed, power, someone snaps there fingers and its okay? What presidence are you setting for the future? That any one person can just overturn a decision? That laws and bills that were passed to protect no longer matter? Where will it end?! I oppose the 413, and I opposed the fast tracked growth of my small community in Caledon. There is plenty of room in Toronto for people to live. There is plenty of land to the east and the west that is underdeveloped and already on main arteries of highway. And lastly, if we think that moving greenspace temporarily to Paris will change anything, they will be next on the growth list. They are already on a major highway junction. There are places North of the city that are not deemed as green space and have not yet been built. There are PROVINCES that don't have the population of our GTA, invest federally and spread things out. We don't have the jobs, we don't have the people with the desire to do the work, we don't have the schools, we definitely don't have the health care systems in place to care for our current population, let alone the growth that the Ford government would like to see. We have classroom packed at 30 plus kids per class. Why? Why can't we fix our current issues before causing more? What are the plans to ensure that people aren't waiting in emergency for 15 hours with a toddler as is the current situation? Why are we sending patients across the border because we don't have the beds? And now you want another how many million? Fix what's broken, then grow. Don't cause more stress to the system because it's making you and your buddies some extra cash. In the end we will be way worse off than the horrible state our province is currently in.
