The Ontario Cap and Trade Programme has been the most effective and fair way to reduce green house gas emissions in Ontario and once it has been given a reasonable chance to make a difference there is every expectation it will. That opportunity will be gone if this government cancels the programme . When our provincial government cooperates with the other levels of government Canada's commitment to the Paris Accord has a chance of reaching Canada's goals and the goals of other signatories to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and their devastating effects on our climate and that of the world. We can no longer accept short term gain (profits) for long term pain as the pain is here now. We are obligated to do all we can to remedy this mess, not make it worse. This government does NOT have the mandate to cancel legislation that is necessary to remedy the environmental mess corporations have made in Canada. This government must consider our children and grandchildren and generations to come and maintain laws that protect our right to a healthy environment. We are all stewards of this land, always, and it is this government's responsibility now to do the right thing. Do not cancel the Cap and Trade Programme.
Further, do NOT make decisions without giving us, the citizens of Ontario, the opportunity to review proposals and make comments on them in the Environmental Registry of Ontario. This is a democracy and it is the responsibility of this government to protect it.
