Ontario is a province that has always lead. With the exception of this and Mike Harris’s government this province has been a reliable leader in economic and environmental protection. Climate change is as real as the earth is round. It isn’t a natural phenomenon. It’s created by greenhouse gases that the previous government and the federal government had partnered with many to curtail. Cap and trade as well as incentives to reduce fossil fuel use work. Ontario has already been damaged by climate change and the need to continue to reduce GHGs and thereby grow our economy has never been more critical. This act is ridiculous pandering to an uninformed base who incorrectly perceive that government that proactively acts on an existential emergency is somehow taking something away from them. This decision must be reversed and Ontario has to return to its leadership role lest we accelerate the damage that rising temperatures will create and miss the opportunities that green energy gives us. You are destroying our children’s future for the sake of what?
