I do not support the cancellation of cap and trade. We need to move forward with action on climate change and cannot afford the time to debate and search for the perfect instruments. Cap and trade may be imperfect but does have an effect. In addition to setting targets for emitters, it provides financial resources to other sectors to reduce their emissions. I strongly feel that we should not remove cap and trade until there are other measures in place that are equally or more effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions on a large scale. Acting on climate change will cost us money. That is unavoidable. Not acting on climate change will cost us even more.
