My comments on Bill 4; Cap and Trade is not a tax. Cap and Trade is a market system structure which has been proven around the world to work by adding separate value to carbon emissions and then using that value to lower emissions and create mitigation techniques to counter the effects of climate change such as re forestation, energy retro fits etc. The introduction of this Act is irresponsible and dangerous. It proceeds against worldwide scientific evidence including the latest awarding of the Nobel Prize in economics. Many excellent projects were being funded by this. Badly needed projects, like retrofitting schools and hospitals to creat energy efficiencies thus creating new sources of funding for education and health care. This is a very bad and dangerous policy decision. This will leave Ontario facing the federal carbon tax which is a poor solution for Ontario and will take decision making out of the hands of an elected provincial government. This is direct abdication of the responsibilities of the provincial government in securing the future for our children and generations to come.
Do not proceed to enact this Act. Restore Cap and Trade.
