The proposed amendments are entirely vague and without substance, effectively they would give the Minister carte blanche to do as he sees fit. Not appropriate whatsoever. There needs to be tighter governance on these proposed changes and how they are implemented. Looks like it's a total giveaway to the mining industry.

Look at the 2 million or so uncapped oil wells in the US to get an idea of how the industry will govern itself. Spewing methane into the atmosphere at alarming rates because somebody forgot to put in appropriate governance.

Simplify things, yes. But don't give up controls or monitors at the expense of the environment.
