I am extremely disappointed…

I am extremely disappointed by the Government's short-sighted decision to cancel the provincial Cap-and-Trade program. Climate change is the defining environmental crisis of our generation, and as Ontarians, we have a particular responsibility to address it - our economy and our lifestyles are so incredibly inefficient today. We can easily improve our carbon emissions efficiency while maintaining a high quality of life.

In fact, working towards a Green economy would be a net positive to our economy - such as in places like Germany or Japan. Sustainability efforts like energy efficiency retrofits, green energy, smart cities, recycling and sustainable transportation lead to a stronger economy with more good jobs for Ontarians. Coupled with a cap-and-trade or carbon taxation system to discourage carbon-intensive industry, plus tax cuts to energy-efficient industries like the service sector, we can implement a revenue-neutral tax structure to fight climate change and lead us to a strong, resilient and productive economy.
