I wish to voice my opposition to the cancellation of the cap-and-trade system, especially without a viable replacement program to be implemented immediately. The premier has claimed to respect hard-working taxpayers and taxpayer dollars, which has been evident in some areas. Yet, this repeal will inevitably result in millions of dollars in lawsuits and legal fees, such as those required to fight the federal government in the application of a carbon tax (which the province is nearly certain to lose). I would request that the existing cap-and-trade system be studied and improved rather than scrapped.
