Ontario's economic future…

Ontario's economic future needs a real climate change plan. In order to capitalize on the $26 trillion clean economy and create good jobs, we must continue to take positive action on the environment.

I support putting a price on carbon, setting and enforcing legally binding emissions reduction targets, generating only renewable energy in the province by 2050, and ending subsidies and tax benefits for fossil fuel companies.

Carbon Pricing
I support making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to residents and building owners to fund emissions reductions and energy savings (especially as these will also help people and businesses save money over time). Keeping our own carbon tax/pricing will also allow us to avoid another being imposed on us by the federal government that is less beneficial at the provincial level.

Legally Binding Reduction Targets
I support making and enforcing targets in-line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement. We need to lower our carbon footprint and maintain a positive image on the world stage. Efforts to meet such targets would fuel innovation, create jobs, reduce energy usage and benefit the planet.

Energy
I support powering 100% of Ontario's energy needs from renewable sources by 2050.
I support ending subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies. Ideally, this money would be redirected to clean energy solutions.
