The Bowman Centre for Sustainable Energy is a think-tank of volunteers. Having studied the IESO Pathways to Decarbonization proposal, we submit 5 documents addressing 5 points of concern. 1) The P2D plan is neither the most economical approach to achieving net zero by 2050, nor is it the most reliable means of meeting our climate goals. 2) In limiting the amount of wind power in the analysis, the resultant mix is out of line with other areas, even those with significantly greater true land restrictions. 3) As a matter of transparency and openness, update the Appendices and the P2D report to include lifetime GHG emissions associated with continuing use of natural gas as well as cost savings associated with not deploying CCUS. 4) Please include hydrogen-based energy storage as part of your energy storage technology portfolio. 5) Please update Appendix A and D to include LCOE and add natural gas fired power generation to the economic analysis. We submit complete explanations for these concerns.
