I would like to highlight the importance of the Wolfe Island ferry, to the island residents who depend on it to access medical care, work, and school. We are not all cottagers; there are at least 1400 full time, year round residents. A two ferry service that runs on time and without large gaps in the day (like the current 1.5 hour gaps) is the only viable option. Even with the new, larger ferry, many of the current problems will continue if we do not have a second ferry running.
For example, an ambulance call or mechanical issue can easily set the schedule back by an hour or more. And unlike most other Ontario residents who might be able to get a car ride, we have NO OTHER MEANS of getting to Kingston (and back).
This leads to a related issue, that it can be a life threatening problem as we have no ambulance on the island.
The ferry is also key for the businesses on the island, as ferry problems = lost business.
I'd also like to comment on the mismanagement of the new ferry project. It's time for someone to fix this mess.
