I am sending this message regarding Ministry reference number
2082-CYEJP2 ERO (Environmenal 019-8205.
It is my hope that this dump will not be approved for this area. If approval is given, the dump would bring a disastrous impact to our area. It would allow leaching of harmful chemicals into our water system causing illnesses and poisoning our freshwater, destroying many species of creatures and plant life not only for Dresden but the water system for all surrounding lands and towns. This affects schools, hospitals, the native reservation at Walpole Island, nursing homes, restaurants, homes and many more. The air quality would become very unhealthy for humans and animals, and plants. The proposed site is in direct proximity to inhabited homes and less than a kilometre from our town. We have learned as a country that asbestos, waste and other contaminants should not be allowed to be stored and or disposed of close to populated areas. We have come a long with research and we know better now than we did 50 years ago. Knowledge allows us to be better and act responsibly for our people. Prime agricultural land would be utilized for a waste site rather than for growing food for our people. If approved, it would take away much needed farmland. Farmland once gone is gone. They don’t make more. Our government is doing everything they can to keep our people safe and to keep our economy strong. If this approval is given, it will have a devastating effect to the economy, security, and health of many people. Our town had been growing with many new homes and subdivisions being developed keeping in line with projected housing needs. However, growth of the housing market is at a standstill with the knowledge that a potential dump may be approved in very close proximity to new developments. If environment assessments are conducted, I am confident that this approval will not given. Thank you for your consideration.
