I do not support Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018. I do support the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016, particularly in light of the recent IPCC special report on global warming and long-time research from the Nobel prize in economy-winners professors William Nordhaus and Paul Romer clearly showing that carbon pricing (and/or increasing the price of fossil fuels while promoting more sustainable energy sources) can substantially help fight climate change and slow global warming. Countless peer-reviewed scientific studies, as well as the expert scientists themselves, have been loudly advocating for progressive measures like carbon pricing that are so sorely needed to mitigate the harmful effects of anthropogenic global climate change. Climate scientists - experts from around the world - clearly show that we must target and reduce emissions at the large-scale industrial and corporate levels to achieve these absolutely essential climate goals. A tax on carbon could help Canada and the world achieve these crucial climate goals.
