I am writing to express my concerns over the proposed amendment to the existing waste processing site ECA No. A020401, that York1 states is a .8 hectare landfilling site that services the Province of Ontario. I have lived in the town of Dresden for 30 years, and it is not a landfilling site. Decades ago it was used by the town to dispose of the ash from the incinerator. Recently it was owned by a small town waste wood disposal company that recycled wood. York's claims that they are just wanting to enlarge the area that already is a landfill is very deceiving.

This proposed location is within 1 km of our homes, our waterways, our schools. It is way too close to our community. We are a small town in the middle of nowhere, literally. The closest major highway is 30 km (401) 58 km (402), therefore the proposed diesel polluting garbage trucks will be travelling on our country roads. Country roads that our farmers travel on, of school buses travel on and in general are always in despair now. What will an additional 600 transports travelling to and from this location do to our roads.

We are home to a large food processing plant, our 'tomato run' as we call it runs from August to October. Hundreds of slow moving tractors and wagons fill our roads during these months which is already frustrating to regular drivers. My dad is a farmer and lives on Oil Heritage Road. He already puts is life at risk every day he has to take a load of soya beans to the mill. My nieces and nephews whom also live on Oil Heritage Road risk their lives daily getting on the school bus. Transports fly past honking their horns at them like they are doing something wrong by slowing them down.

Please consider denying this application, I have other concerns too regarding the environment, our Sydenham River & Molly's Creek which are also within 1 km of this site. Please at minimum require York 1 to have a complete Environmental assessment done on this site. I'm all for recycling, but it needs to be in a location closer to main highways. Would you want this at the edge of your home?
