Honorable Mayor and Members of Council,
It is with deep concern that I write this message regarding the proposed development of approximately 1500 residential units at Langstaff and close to Weston Rd.
Density in the Weston Downs Area, Vaughan Mills Area and the vicinity surrounding these areas is beyond what the current infrastructure can support. Adding an additional 1500+ vehicles to the current area and infrastructure will totally cripple vehicle movement.
Traffic starts at 3 pm in the afternoon and by 4 pm, you are in gridlock! I drive my daughter to the dance studio on Corstate and it takes 20 minutes from Weston Downs to the studio doors and on the way back during rush hour, it takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes from the studio to get back into Weston Downs. Edgeley to Langstaff is insanely busy with the release of factory workers, Langstaff is insanely busy right to Weston Road and then north on Weston Rd is gridlocked right to Rutherford and thank goodness I am just before Rutherford. Many cars try to beat the long lines and drive in the opposite lane to cut in the line that is waiting northbound at the lights at Rutherford/Weston Rd. Intersection.
Infrastructure needs to be improved before even considering adding to the current population density from residential, commercial and industrial units in the area.
