Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada GP Inc. for and on behalf of Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada LP - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for renewal and amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 9909-9DGPA5 for Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada GP Inc. for and on behalf of Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada LP, a facility that glass fiber insulation products, located in the City of Toronto, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:

• dust collectors
• ovens
• boilers
• tanks
• cooling towers
• paint spray booth

The amendment includes change in process to TO2 furnace; change to process in the TO-1 forming line and change to batch material. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• silica-respirable
• quartz
• manganese compounds
• particulate matter
• formaldehyde
• nitrogen oxides
• nickel, and
• chromium compounds

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
