Magna Powertrain Inc. operating as Unimotion-Gear - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for the amendment of the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 3468-9J8NS2 for Magna Powertrain Inc. operating as Unimotion-Gear, a manufacturing facility for drive plates/flexplates and reluctor wheels, located in the Town of Aurora, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:

• welding
• cooling towers
• induction heat machines
• fume hood
• tanks
• washer
• cutting and machining

The amendment includes changes to the equipment inventory, general exhausts and increase to the production limit. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• manganese
• nitrogen oxides
• ethanolamie
• hexahydro-1,5-tris(2hydroxyethyl)-s-trazine
• particulate matter
• nickel, and
• chromium VI.

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
