Description of instrument
This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval for potato washwater serving H.J. Vander Zaag Farms Limited, operating a seasonal potato washing facility at 3978 Tottenham Road in the Town of New Tecumseth.
The potato washwater treatment works comprise of :
- a potato washer,
- a chemically assisted clarification system,
- a biological treatment system for denitrification and
- associated pumps and controls discharging treated washwater to an existing exfiltration lagoon.
The exfiltration lagoon is located west of the existing building and discharges treated wash water to the shallow subsoils.
The Ministry may require monitoring of the industrial wastewater and stormwater effluent discharge leaving the site.
