Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada GP Inc., as general partner for and on behalf of Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an amendment and renewal to the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 9909-9DGPA5 for Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada GP Inc., as general partner for and on behalf of Owens Corning Insulating Systems Canada LP, a fiberglass insulation manufacturing facility located in the City of Toronto, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:

• dust collectors
• tanks
• cooling towers
• furnaces
• oven
• regenerative thermal oxidizer and paint spray booth

The amendment includes decreasing the maximum rate of production per day from 302 tonnes to 240 tonnes of bare molten glass and includes proposed modifications to the facility including the addition of emission control equipment.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• silica-respirable
• manganese compounds
• nitrogen oxides
• chromium (VI) compounds
• nickel
• lead
• benzene
• particulate matter; and
• sulphur dioxide

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
