The mouth of the lower Niagara river in the spring has more cormorants than I’ve ever seen in all my years of fishing and hunting. And I’ve lived here my entire life.

First off as a fisherman I am in total agreement with a season to hunt these predatory birds which in my opinion do nothing but decimate fish stocks ( game and non game)......They destroy nesting areas, fishing stocking programs and serve no benefit to the ecology.......

As a hunter and fisherman I have been hoping for this open season for years. The dammage done by these pests is evident every place they roost.

I think everyone of these damn birds should be culled they are destroying our fisheries so much work is put in to stock these lakes only to have these birds destroy it the amount of fish these flying fish eating machines eat is unbelievable!!!!!!!!

Please give those native birds a chance to survive; killing 50 birds a day will destroy their population especially in nesting season. Their being is important for the overall ecosystem. Please check out the link below for detailed reasons. Lire davantage

I cannot believe this is happening just for fishermen! Does our wildlife mean nothing to this government? I feel like the provincial government will not be happy until there is no more wildlife in Ontario!!

I think you are going overboard with the number of kills allowed. People will see this as a massacre/extinction instead of a controlled culling. Rethink your numbers.

I'm a hunter and angler I"m for cormorant hunt because they greatly deplete fish stocks Lots of money is spent on stocking fish and cormorants just eat them even before they enter fishery cormorants also pollute the water with their waste Lire davantage

It hasn't been that many years since the cormorant was a rare bird in this province. The population will find its own balance without hunting. I oppose the creation of a hunting season for cormorants. Lire davantage

i personally think a professional cull is needed, if hunters must do it not with such a huge bag limit - make it the same as canada geese . i worry about other casualties of migrating birds which are protected, will this be monitored and reviewed

Think about what you are proposing for our Provincial Parks - firearms? a proposal not back by science, an unethical slaughter? public image of hunters into the future? - do not proceed with this proposal. From the Hunting Regulations Lire davantage

I would like to see the Provincial Government's data establishing cormorant populations as being above sustainable, as well as the reports from consulted independent ecologists and biologists that recommend the cull as the environmentally most sound course of action. Lire davantage

I cannot believe that this proposal has even made it to this stage. The hunting of any bird for an extended period such as this and with such ridiculous "LIMITS" is nothing but a way to wipe out a species. Let's face it. This is the plan here. Lire davantage

Please reconsider allowing the slaughter of 50 birds per hunter per day. You will be responsible for eradicating the entire species from this earth. We need to be protecting our animals, not killing them in mass numbers

As cormorants are making a comeback from previous human interference, I find it unthinkable that you are considering allowing hunters to hunt then simply because they fish. What’s next, osprey, eagles? Lire davantage

I have recently read about the proposal to call some cormorants. I am asking that you please reconsider. Please use sound science and humane techniques for wildlife conservation and control. In my country, with the government we have at this time, that is not happening. Lire davantage
