I think it is a terrible idea to introduce a hunting season for cormorants in Ontario. If anything, their increased numbers indicate that the fish population is healthier. Lire davantage

I am opposed to the proposed changes allowing a free for all in hunting the cormorants. 50 a day bag limit is ludicrous plus the duration of the season is too extensive.

I do not agree with the proposal for a hunting season on D-C Cormorants. The culling proposed is not based on sound scientific evidence. Lire davantage

I am appalled by this proposal and strongly oppose it. The proposal has serious flaws that would be detrimental to the ecosystem and would undermine responsible conservation practices. Neither the proposal not the conjecture of its proponents is supported by any scientific evidence. Lire davantage

Cormorants are a native bird species and serve a natural, beneficial, ecological function. They are not overabundant and, because they are largely concentrated in just a few areas, are extremely vulnerable. Lire davantage

The hunting season for cormorants from March to December is unacceptable. It will allow hunters to kill too many cormorants. Also it will occur during the spring, summer and fall season when non-hunters are out enjoying Lire davantage

I am in total agreeable with the proposal to establish a hunting season for the double breasted cormorants in Ontario. I am an avid angler and have been disgusted with the shoreline damage that has been done by these birds. Lire davantage

I am opposed to this proposal. There is no clear scientific rationale for such a hunt, and if it is allowed, the long season and high bag limits are unreasonable. In additions, recreation on waterways will be negatively impacted.

I think the proposal to establish a hunting season for Cormorants is a dangerous idea that is not based on scientific research. Lire davantage

This proposal to permit hunting of Double-crested Cormorants is very poor public policy and reflects very badly upon the present government. It demonizes a part of nature and declares that the answer is shotguns. I will remember this when the next election comes. (I used to be a PC party member.)

I think this is the best idea we have to look after this problem. I have worked on Lake Joseph for 47 years and have not seen anything as bad as these birds for the destruction of some of the Islands and to other proportys. Lire davantage

These birds are becoming more and more of a nuisance. They just sèem to keep growing in flock size with no control. In their numbers they are eating out of control, killing shoreline habitat and pushing Loons out of the territory on my lake. It's sad to see...

Great idea. Oiling eggs and nests won't work as most of the comorants nest to the south. Let's shoot them. Normal hunting rules apply. They won't be as easy to kill as ducks or geese.

The Double-crested Cormorant is a symbol of success in cleaning up the Great Lakes. While I understand that some may view cormorants as ugly, offensive and responsible for damage to trees, there seems to be no sound reason to permit a hunt. Certain terms of the proposal are obscene, i.e Lire davantage
