I am a fisherman on Lake Couchiching and I have seen personally the destruction the cormorants have done on that lake, especially to Ship Island. These birds are destructive and detrimental to the well being of our ecosystem on Lake Couchiching. Lire davantage

All for it. Here on lake erie on the east end we have a great number of birds that need to be thinned out. Be great if you can get the clause of the gather and disposal of the carcasses instead of consumption.

I am a avid hunter and fisherman. I have seen the cormorants increase in northern Ontario. We have a couple of small lakes with planted brook trout in them. The last 3 to 5 years the number of fish taken has dramatically reduced since we noticed the cormorants on the lakes. Lire davantage

I have spent summers on Georgian Bay for more than 50 years and seen the rapid increase in cormorant numbers and the corresponding huge reduction in fish population. The cormorants are a menace and will soon be out of control. Lire davantage

I am assuming the current population of Double-crested Cormorants (DCCO) is above its threshold and that's why these harvest regulations seem similar to that of the Snow Goose (SNGO; 50/day, unlimited poss.)- that's a lot of birds. 50 birds/day, I don't think is as attainable as one may think. First Nations using nets , would think that would be a reason for fish stocks depleating. No laws re quotas or size re natives . Absurd government mentality . A province that allows calf hunting . Having lived in Yukon for 28 yrs elders never hunt calf moose .

Mother nature is definitely out of balance when it comes to the double - crested cormorant. There are just too many of them and with no natural predators, we need a hunting season to bring their numbers under control. Lire davantage

This proposal is very poorly thought out, and will result in crazy "hunters" cruising public waterways adjacent to waterfront homes...homes where there are people living and where people will be at risk of being shot. Lire davantage

This proposal as written is a very good idea. I support all portions including the exemptions for allowing game to spoil, shooting from a stationary motor boat etc. Something needs to be done and this is a good idea. Thank you in advance.

This is disgusting. The wildlife in the gta is one of its most charming and fascinating features. This will only encoyrage gun nuts, cause gun accidents, and no one will be eating 50 cormorants. They’ll leave them to rot. An utterly vile and baffling proposal. Stop trying to be America so hard. Lire davantage

As a director at a local not for profit sport fish hatchery, I can say this is much welcomed news. We have witnessed first hand how devistating these birds can be to both local fish stocks and baitfish populations. Lire davantage
