Thank goodness for the proposed season on the damned birds. They have caused endless havoc from the Atlantic coast to Algonquin Park. Get rid of them please. Thank you.

There is no evidence that double crested cormorants affect fish populations. They are part of the ecosystem and deserve our protection. As a bird lover from British Columbia I am horrified by this proposal, as is our local naturalist group.

As managers the MNRF should assess impact of the cormorants on the local ecosystem and if significant issue a permit to a lake association or a fish and game club, provided there is lake consensus for oiling the eggs using the same protocol as for culling gulls. Lire davantage

Has there been a study done to corroborate the claims of the commercial fisheries that the new population has been detrimental to fish populations? Has a study been done to assess what has happened to this bird's natural predators? Perhaps this/these species need conservation. Lire davantage

I think the Cormorant Hunt is a great idea. I am not sure many people will hunt the birds but it would help keep the population in check, protect vegetation and fish stocks. The birds have affected fishing in the area around our Aunts cottage of Manitoulin Island.
