I am disgusted and appalled. There is no need for this except to appease some bureaucrat who likes to murder bears. This is a death warrant for innocent baby bear cubs who will be orphaned and die when their mothers are gunned down by hunters after emerging from hibernation in the spring. Lire davantage

If I understood the proposal correctly, it sounds like the MNR of Ontario is planning to reinstate a ‘normal’ black bear hunting season. I am opposed to the senseless slaughter of black bears by tourists and big game hunters. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose to even allowing bear hunting or hunting of any other animal for that matter! Hunting was a survival method many many moons ago so if people want to practice their target shooting, they should consider putting up target shooting facilities across the country. Lire davantage

It’s 2020. Can we please agree to evolve beyond bloodlust and to treat our fellow sentient beings with the care and respect they deserve? Please do not allow people to murder innocent animals who have as much right to exist as humans do. It is not sport. It is not conservation. It is murder.

I support this 100%!! We need to bring back the spring bear hunt to control the population and ensure bears have enough food, to survive the long winters. We also need to bring down the number of problem bears and help hunting outfitters and the economy in the north. Lire davantage

This would be a slaughter, not a hunt. It is barbaric and backwords thinking. We should strive to increase Ontario's tourism through preserving what makes it special. It would only prove to tarnish Ontario's reputation.

Hunters are constantly shooting female Bears and who many times leave behind Cubs who also die as they cannot survive Without their mother. Hunters can’t differentiate between male And female bears. This should not be allowed.

If it is necessary to control the bear population, then a TNR...Trap Neuter Return...program would be a much more humane solution. We destroy the animal habitats and then call them a nuisance when they are just trying to survive in our world and the solution is to just kill them?? Lire davantage

I support the idea of adding a spring bear hunt. The proposed fines are good so long as it applies to sows with cubs. I would like to see an addition to the fine that any guiding service would loose guiding privilages if found guilty of taking sows.

This is a really unwise decision. Bears are already on the endangered species. They don’t bother anyone, except those which are being startled or harmed inside their own territory. These hunters today are just out to kill something. Kill, is the word, not hunt. Lire davantage

There was always lot more Bears killed than were licensed in the Spring Hunt due to the inability to differentiate between sex's leading to genuine accidental sow kills but also enabling the intentional shooting excuse "how were we to know" with the universal shrug of the shoulders. Lire davantage

Please do not do this to the mother bears and cubs. Every summer i woukd see cubs with their moms passing through our property north of Parry Soumd. Last year we did not see one bear, even at the dump! Sad!

I fully support the continuation of the Ontario spring (and fall) bear hunt. Bears are certainly not endangered (particularly around my property in Kaladar!) and the hunt is a viable means of control and provides economic benefits to small communities province wide.
