Expanding the wood pellet industry under the guise of a climate solution is outrageous. The idea of burning more wood pellets means burning more trees for electricity – producing a fuel that’s even dirtier at the smokestack than coal!

Dear Biomass Proponents, I am totally against growing this industy! The process destroys a carbon sink (and it's ecosystem) only to create carbon output. This is going backwards and is not a logical or effective way to move away from the production of fossil fuels. Lire davantage

This comes under the heading “seemed like a good idea at the time”. It wasn’t! Strict legislation must be created limiting pellet production to waste from the existing lumber industry, not new cut timber of any kind.

Increasing deforestation is a bad idea especially since wood pellets are dirtier than coal at the smokestack. Please stop the expansion of the wood pellet industry and provide real green energy solutions and jobs for citizens.

I oppose the plan to increase production of wood pellets from our dwindling forests. Wood pellets were, I think, first produced from waste wood. Not from mature trees. Burning any wood puts carbon into the environment. Lire davantage

I'm feeling completely disillusioned with the Ontario government. I strongly oppose logging boreal forests for wood pellets. The boreal forest stores carbon and is a natural carbon sink that should be preserved in an our collective effort to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. Lire davantage

Expanding the wood pellet industry in Ontario would be like building more coal-fired generating plants! The smoke from burning wood is almost the same as burning coal and will ADD to climate warming and pollution, a bad idea.
