The proposed "More Homes Built Faster Act" includes only tepid measures to enable more badly needed home construction in existing cities while diving deep into dangerous attacks on wetland habitat, woodlands and other conservation lands and encouraging even more of the expensive rural sprawl that ca Lire davantage

I am writing to express my opposition to Bill 23 and associated policy proposals that would weaken environmental protections and undermine public involvement in land use planning and decision-making. I am particularly concerned about the: Lire davantage

This comment is to request a revision of proposed changes to The City of Toronto and Plannng Acts: - Rental replacement policy - removal of this policy will lead to displacement of tenants at a faster rate than what is happening now in the practice of "renovictions"; Lire davantage

Ontario's Bill 23 claims to be about “More Homes Built Faster”. But it would throw Waterloo Region's Official Plan into limbo, which our 3 cities and 4 townships have been collaborating on together over the last two years. Lire davantage

After reading the proposal several times, it seems that Bill 23 would only benefit developers/builders. You are basically giving them no rules to follow. People who live in communities, towns and cities have a right to question any type of re-zoning being put forth in their community. Lire davantage

As an Ontarian I am deeply concerned by proposed legislative or regulatory changes that would: 1. Remove requirements regarding public meetings on certain planning matters. 2. Remove my right to appeal planning decisions (e.g., Official Plans, zoning by-laws, minor variances). Lire davantage

The removal of third party appeals is troublesome. The OLT has always been that "level playing field" that provides proper debate of issues and concerns. Removing the right to appeal could frustrate legitimate appeals dealing with infrastructure and cost sharing. Lire davantage

I do not support this Bill. It overrides democracy and gives too much power to developers. There is nothing in it that guarantees affordable housing. It harms the Greenbelt, which should be protected. This provincial government promised it would not touch the Greenbelt. Lire davantage

I oppose Bill 23. It is a farce and an affront to democracy and the environment in Ontario, particularly in its proposals for CAs. Moreover, it does little to address the housing crisis, which doesn't need more land, as per the 2022 report (linked). Lire davantage

Our community is concerned that this bill promotes housing growth in low-density developments encroaching on our rural land boundaries, rather than the densification and diversity of housing options in existing built areas. Lire davantage

Sacrificing the Green Belt is short-sighted and ignores the impending climate crisis. The environmental services provided by these areas outweigh the value from new housing, especially since most of those proposals are subdivisions of single-home dwellings. Lire davantage

Bill 23 is deeply troubling to me as a citizen of Ontario who is concerned about the future of our Province. It hands our lands to developers with practically no oversight and no thought to the future generations of this province. Lire davantage

Efforts to unlock existing single-residential lands for upsizing, by allowing as-of-right duplexes etc, is a step in the right direction. However, it is a grave error to see greenfield development in protected areas as any kind of benefit to the housing crisis. Lire davantage

The answer to the housing crisis is not simply building “more homes faster”. The answer is building more homes in the right place, of the right type. Lire davantage
