The initiative to in fact restrict bike lanes raises serious concerns in several areas. From a safety perspective, reducing bike lanes puts cyclists at greater risk by forcing them to share roads with cars, increasing the likelihood of accidents. Lire davantage

Bike lanes are a very important part of our infrastructure and help move cities and provinces towards a green and healthier Canada. They help reduce traffic, reduce emissions and promote a healthy life style. Lire davantage

Strong support for this proposal! Making biking safer only encourages people to bike. Many people I know want to bike but won’t do so without safer lanes

As an Ontario resident living in an urban area without a car, I depend entirely on public transit and my personal bicycle for commuting. This proposal appears misaligned with both my safety and my ability to contribute effectively to the province’s success. Lire davantage

Simply, this is dumb. What an inefficient use of the provincial government's time. Focus on fixing the health care and education you messed up, not on making people's daily commutes worse. Lire davantage

Removing the bike lanes will really force all the cyclists to be on the same lanes with cars which causes real congestion and it is the exact opposite of easing the congestion in the city. This is not only unsafe for cyclists but drivers in the city. Lire davantage

In commute by bicycle most of the year. I also have use of a car and a motorcycle. Several times a week I find myself in dangerous, sometimes life-threatening situations when cycling because car drivers behave recklessly. I cycle because it is by far faster than driving or public transit. Lire davantage

This is terrible legislation on multiple levels. First, it is an absurd overreach of provincial power. Why is the province wasting its time and resources micro managing municipalities? Second, ripping out existing bike lines is just a stupid waste of money. Lire davantage

Getting rid of bike lanes pushes people out of the city and makes it harder for them to live in what is already one of the most expensive cities in the world. With this Bill, it's clear Doug Ford only values the opinions of the rich and those who can afford to have a car in Toronto. Lire davantage

If anything, removing bike lanes will create more traffic with vehicles having to slow down behind cyclists at certain points in roads. Lire davantage

Removing bike lanes is a terrible idea. Removing them won’t make my commute faster. If anything it will make it worse. It will make it more dangerous for cyclists. It’s also terrible for small businesses. Not everyone can afford a car.

“Congestion” is not a good enough reason to but bikers’ lives at risk. Shame on you Ford government

We don't need a new highway, and we don't need infrastructure like bike lanes removed. Tell Mr. Ford to find a way to merely be useless, rather than an active harm to this province.

This is ridiculous. Bike lanes make biking in the city much safer. To remove them causes (at least) 2 things: 1. Dangerous conditions for those who will inevitable cycle in the city despite removal of bike lanes Lire davantage

Removing bike lanes on major arteries will cause more gridlock and reduce safety for all. Induced demand has shown that removing or adding a lane will not have major impacts to congestion in the long run. Lire davantage

Doug Ford has had some lame-brain ideas, but this proposal is the worst yet. Bike lanes (in varying degrees) save cyclist lives. There are a ton of studies that highlight the benefits of bike lanes . Maybe someone can read some of them the Mr. Ford?

I think this is the stupidest thing that has come to pass. Suppose we discuss the city of Toronto. The city, in its entirety, is made of many stop lights for cars and street cars to pass. This itself has an effect on traffic, as the amount of stop lights can influence the speed and flow of traffic. Lire davantage

I strongly support keeping bike lanes that are already installed. Removing bike lanes that are already built is throwing money in the garbage. I feel safer living in Toronto knowing that I can bike around safely. Lire davantage
