I use these bike lanes everyday. The research overwhelming shows that bike lanes increase safety and reduce traffic. We should be expanding access to bike lanes. This policy is backwards, goes against evidence, and will make our communities less safe.

This is an unnecessary change. None of these corridors have been remotely impacted by the inclusion of bike lanes given the fact they are also the only roads with rapid transit under them. Bad idea.

All bike lanes should go back to normal driving lanes

Bike lanes should be built by replacing culvert rather than using existing road space. A completely separate area for vehicles & bicycles is safer for everyone. Park bicycle paths should align with road paths do you can travel from A to B.

As a resident of downtown Toronto, a driver, cyclist and pedestrian I am deeply deeply concerned about the removal of bike lanes, at the cost of the taxpayer, with no evidence that it will improve gridlock and traffic in this city. Lire davantage

Removing bike lanes on major corridors and restricting alternative transit options would be a step backward for sustainable, accessible transportation in our community. Bike lanes are critical for encouraging safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly travel choices. Lire davantage

Bicycles are traffic. In making a cycle lane one does not remove a traffic lane. Instead one makes a safe lane for a good type of traffic. Cycle lanes do not waste time. Lire davantage

Forcing cyclists to switch to driving because cycling is no longer safe will just increase congestion. This isn't even a proposal that will have short term gains but long term losses, it's just losses from the start. It's clear it's only intention is to be provocative. Do better.

DO NOT remove bike lanes - this is an extremely short sighted and is not in the best interest of Torontonians who live in the city and need safe ways to move around Lire davantage

This bill is an awful idea. I'm a driver and bike lanes make it easier for me to understand where bikers are so they don't pop out of nowhere. I live in North York where there is basically no biking infrastructure and bikers end up on the sidewalks where they are a danger to pedestrians. Lire davantage

I am a father, a worker, a Toronto resident, a driver and a cyclist. And I am enraged by this poorly thought out and callous law that aims to stifle new bike lanes in Toronto and even rip out ones recently installed. Lire davantage

The proposed legislation requiring Ministry approval for bicycle lanes, particularly where motor vehicle travel lanes are affected, raises important considerations regarding local autonomy, public safety, and sustainable transportation. Impact on Local Autonomy: Lire davantage

These bike lanes are essential for ensuring mobility and safety. Removing them will make congestion worse, will make it harder for working people to get around safely, and will send us backwards in safety and environmental standards.

All of the factual evidence presented to date shows that the impact of added bike lanes on Bloor St West have had no significant impact on travel times. the emergency services departments of Toronto (fire, ambulance) have also confirmed that their response times have even improved post bike lanes. I find it concerning that we are removing infrastructure that supports cleaner air. Our city's air quality has been declining significantly for the last several years. Lire davantage

Given the current government's stated (but unmet) focus on building housing and densification, giving people options for how they move within and through their communities is the only thing that will work to address congestion. Lire davantage

As both a driver and a biker I am strongly against this proposal. Cars are by far the least efficient form of transportation, and it is insane to be spending more money ripping out existing infrastructure that provides a viable alternative. Lire davantage
