Removing bike lanes is not a means of reducing congestion and gridlock. The problem is cars, not bikes. This has been proven repeatedly by studies conducted across this country and around the world. Adding more space for cars does NOT make congestion better; it's makes it WORSE. Lire davantage

The Ontario government's plan to remove the bike lanes on Bloor St., Yonge St., and University Ave. in the City of Toronto and to return them to a lane of traffic, will not reduce gridlock for cars. Doing this will increase the number of cars on the road and worsen public safety. Lire davantage

1. We are in the midst of an existential climate crisis. We should be doing everything in our power to reduce fossil fuel use. We need MORE bike lanes, not less. 2. You are lying about the impact of bike lanes on local businesses. BIAs do not support this rash and uninformed decision. Lire davantage

I oppose this bill. I like the bike lanes on Bloor and University. They keep commuters safe, and studies have shown that they do not add to traffic. Fix Metrolinx instead and stay in your lane.

There is no evidence that supports this decision to remove bike lanes. Vehicle traffic will never support the throughput needs of a city as big as Toronto and congestion will very quickly return to similar levels. Lire davantage

“You’re nervous when there’s no bike lanes. At least I was. We have to do everything we can to make sure there’s never a death in the city. One death is way too many when it comes to bicycle riders.” - Doug Ford (2017)

From spring time to late fall, I use the bike lanes in Toronto to get to and from my Apartment in midtown to my partner’s downtown. Lire davantage

This is a terrible idea. Firstly, why are you removing bike lanes that were just built? A waste of taxpayer money. Lire davantage

Singling out three bike lanes makes clear that this is about spite. Shame on this government.

Bikes are part of the solution to gridlock, not the problem. Look to cars for that. This is an incredibly misguided bill that I adamantly oppose, as do many of my fellow Torontonians.

This is such a tremendous overreach of the provincial government - I do NOTsupport this legislation. I am not a bike user and I live in Etobicoke, where there has been much debate about the installation of bike lanes along Bloor Street W. Lire davantage

Mr.Ford seems to think it’s still 1954 in Toronto. He should wake up or give up on pretending he is a politician.

I am a car owner and resident of downtown Toronto. I drive a lot, but I also take the TTC and cycle for commuting a lot as well. As a driver in the city, traffic can be maddening, but it isn't as maddening as encroaching on the right of the city to determine which lanes should have bike lanes. Lire davantage

How does this help? Your going to remove bike lanes and then mix them in normal traffic and that will help the flow how....Has anyone consulted any experts on this topic. Let alone the safety of everyone this does nothing meaningful. Lire davantage

As a Torontonian who sold their car just this year and now bikes, walks or uses TTC to commute, I find this proposal not only irresponsible, but dangerous. Also, a complete overreach of the provincial government's authority. Municipalities know what is best for the people who live in their cities. Lire davantage

This is a disgusting overreach by the premier into what is clearly municipal jurisdiction. Doug Ford should focus less on settling scores from his time as city councilor, and more on running the province he was elected to govern.

Also can someone actually explain how this hair brained idea came about. This has no studies backing it....no data...just anecdotal evidence from career politicians. Good use of public money folks!

We are in the midst of a climate crisis and Ford wants to dismantle climate positive infrastructure. This is not the solution to gridlock. Please consider investing more in transit in order to get people where they need to go. Lire davantage

DO NOT REMOVE the bike lanes on Bloor, University and Yonge St!! Yes, suburbanites have a longer commute if they come in by car but that is not downtown's fault - that is urban sprawl. Lire davantage
