I’m writing as a concerned citizen of both Toronto and Ontario.. It seems the Ford government is intent to interfere with municipal politics without proper consultation or studies conducted in the removal of bike lanes.. Lire davantage

Let civic and municipal governments make decisions about what their communities need - this is exactly what they are elected to do, and they have the information and knowledge to do. I'm appalled this has even been proposed.

Bill 212 would be an overreach by the Government of Ontario, and it would stifle the ability of municipal governments to build out much-needed bike infrastructure in their cities. Lire davantage

This proposal is not only a ridiculous waste of money, but will also put me and my kids in danger. As a mother of three who both lives, drives and bikes in Toronto, I strongly oppose this bill. Lire davantage

Bill 212 will bring none of the benefits it promises. Decades of research proves again and again that taking space away from bikes for cars does not reduce traffic. Lire davantage

The province's plan to limit new bike lanes and remove some existing bike lanes should not move forward, as it is not consistent with the province's latest planning policies. Lire davantage

Traffic congestion in Toronto and surrounding municipalities is a problem. The current bike lanes along Bloor St offer a safe alternative to commuting via private automobile or public transit. Lire davantage

Bike lanes save lives, bottom line. Many of my loved ones have been injured by drivers while cycling. I saw my sister get her front top and bottom teeth smashed out by a person who opened their door without looking. Lire davantage

I am not convinced that this bill will save us any time. Instead of cracking down on alternative modes of transport, how about restricting NIMBY traffic measures like speed bumps and 30km/h zones like on King Edward Ave in Ottawa . Lire davantage

This Bill is a terrible step backwards for the safety of cyclists in the city of Toronto not to mention stifling a viable means of transportation within the city center and beyond. Lire davantage

I believe that the following Act will not in, in its truest form, help in any way shape or form, with our self induced gridlock problem. Reducing the availabilities for transport systems other than car, only forces more people to get into a car and not take the bikes. Making it even worse

I am very concerned about the proposed legislation from the Ontario government that would deny municipalities the ability to install new bike lanes on major streets without provincial approval. Lire davantage

NO you CANNOT do this people can barely afford to get around as is. Traffic in the city is the worst it's ever been and NO ONE CAN AFFORD CARS and many people including FAMILIES can only afford to get around on bike. Lire davantage

bike lanes improve traffic within the city and removing them after having built them is wrong. More bike lanes should be added to the city, if anything remove street side parking to give the drivers another lane.

bike lanes are essential to the traffic flow and peoples safety. getting rid of bike lanes will not improve traffic. if bikes are forced to ride on the road im not sure how drivers would feel having to ride slowly behind a cyclist. Lire davantage
