Where Bill 4 goes wrong
The consultation process for Bill 4 was insufficient
Bill 4 ignores the urgency of climate change
Bill 4 closes Ontario for business to the clean economy
Bill 4 gives little detail about a replacement plan
Bill 4 does not contain binding emissions targets

I support Ontario’s current targets to reduce GHG emissions to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. Ontario needs a robust climate action plan to reduce GHG pollution.

I have family in low lying areas. I want them to be able to keep their homes. If climate change continues as the current rate, they won't be able to keep their home for more than likely a few decades. I'm terrified.

Climate change is much too urgent to back away from concrete and effective measures. The current government of Ontario is not offering any alternative to what they want to repeal. This is very wrong.

It is very simple; climate change is a serious issue and we have to make system and behavioural changes to address it. Programs like Cap and Trade use the economy to manipulate human behaviour to reduce emissions and that is good for everyone.

The sacrificing of our only home for short-term gain foolhardy. Pollution pricing is the most important policy tool to support a long-term sustainable economy. Allowing major polluters to profit at the expense of the public is detrimental to all of us.

Cancelling a positive act for the environment is backwards thinking. We need to be doing more to prevent the release of further greenhouse gases, not less. I do not support this proposal.
While Cap and Trade may not be the best way to tackle halting the ruin of the environment, it makes no sense to stop this tactic before coming up with a better plan. Our children and grandchildren deserve to inherit a livable planet.

Why not have Doug Ford live in a densely polluted area, just for a few years, so he can experience what this bill will do to us in the long run, before he passes this harmful legislation!
I implore you to think about what this would mean for future generations. Stop thinking about money now, but rather question the impact of this on those to come.
The repealing of the cap and trade system is both wasteful, and ignorant. Anthropogenic climate change has been well established by a litany of scientific studies, and something needs to be done about it. The free market is not going to handle it. Businesses will not do anything about it. Why?

Bill 4 fails address the urgency of climate crisis and represents a major step backward in the fight against climate change.
It is unfair and unreasonable to eliminate the province’s only climate plan without any replacement plan!

Leave the cap and trade in place unless you have a better plan and yes you have to have a plan. Doing nothing or very little is not an option. My child's life depends on your government and those in the rest of the country and world to do something substantive not just tinker around the edges.
