I am writing to indicate my disagreement with the proposed changes. The cap and trade program has been shown to provide environmental and financial benefits to citizens of Ontario. The new bill proposes to dismantle the program but does not provide a plan to replace it. Read more

The best policy instrument available to governments to reduce greenhouse gases is to put a price on carbon pollution. It's pretty obvious that a price on carbon pollution will result in people and companies looking for less expensive sources of energy. Read more

I am commenting that I am heartsick at the cancellation of the Cap and Trade policy that was in effect in Ontario until the Conservatives took power. In this time of existential climate crisis I cannot believe our government is moving away from responsible climate stewardship. Read more

Please do not repeal the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act. The cap and trade program is a necessary tool for pricing carbon pollution and effectively mitigating climate risk. The province needs to be at the forefront of climate action. Read more

I object to Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018. It cancels a system that was effective in reducing Green House Gas emissions, and it is very vague about measures that might be implemented in the future to fulfill the same purpose. Read more
