This legislation is driven by ideology and is reckless. It wastes taxpayers’ money spent on developing a program to reduce carbon emissions, without any consultation or proposals for a better plan. Taxpayers will end up paying legal fees and penalties the government has failed to estimate. Read more

I had the opportunity to hear our Environmental Commissioner Dr. Dianne Saxe last night (October 3, 2018) in Sarnia, Ontario. She explained that this new bill (Bill 4) has no teeth and will do nothing to fight Climate Change. She also spoke very positively about the existing Cap and Trade System. Read more

Repealing cap and trade is the wrong decision for Ontario, and the wrong decision for the world. Premier Doug Ford's actions in repealing this program are nothing short of cowardly, and show his merit as an individual who is unwilling to stand up and do the right thing in the face of protest. This is such a terrible decision and I don't understand the logic behind it at all. The Ford government doesn't even have a climate plan at this point, so why dismantle a system that's already in place? Oh right, because it was implemented by the Liberals so must be repealed. Read more

The funds that were used for important upgrades to school and other buildings, rebates for electric cars and support for innovation would be wiped out by cancelling Ontario's Cap and Trade system. There would also be job loss for contractors. Read more
