I believe it is important to have strategy in all sectors and initiatives in the forestry sector to promote mass timber manufacture is an opportunity which has export potential and all the benefits of a renewable resource.

I'd like to comment on the expanse of items in the Ontario Forest Sector Strategy and how well it is laid out. As a Registered Professional Forester I greatly value maintaining a sustainably managed public forest.

the Ontario Woodlot Association (OWA) is very important to private woodlot owners like myself. It would be helpful if the Government of Ontario funded some of the costs and made it mandatory for private woodlot owners who are Managed Forest members to belong to OWA.

It is time the government stopped giving away and destroying What belongs to us. We need trees, bees and wild life. Once they are gone we will be next. WAKE UP!! Do what should be done. Stop destroying what we have.
My wife and I are new owners of woodland (27 acres) we are avid outdoors people and enjoy our woods. However, we didn't know much about stewarding a woodland. So we reached out to our local municipality for some direction.

The strategy uses the word "sustainability" throughout yet the section on Sustainable Forest Management says nothing about improving, supporting, or even maintaining the systems put in place to achieve sustainable forest management.

The small acreage people need support from goverment in the way of funds so the large companys will thin etc your forest for you.If you have to do your thinning yourself and leave the trees to rot on the ground you are adding carbon to the air.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on “Blueprint for Success: Ontario’s Forest Sector Strategy-DRAFT”.
I support and welcome the strategy fully in objective and direction! All points are valid and need to be addressed. However, one major element, or one entire chapter is missing.

I encourage the aim of supporting harvesting on private land (p.20). Private woodlots are close to the markets for lumber, so carbon emissions are reduced. The Ontario Woodlot Association's members are involved in sustainable management of their woodlots, so could contribute to this aim.
