I would rather we keep the safeguards that protect homebuyers and the environment and have Mr. Ford’s developer friends please observe all the regulatory requirements before building.

I'm concerned about the self-registration aspect on the Environmental Activity and Sector Registry. With less oversight, some may cut corners and ignore important environmental standards. Read more

Read more

As larger companies and corporations lose their neighbourly connection to the community and land, more regulations and impartial governance needs to be put into place to protect the land, water and future generations. Read more

Environmental protection needs strengthening not weakening. Stormwater management needs input from Conservation Authorities. They have a lot of expertise in watersheds. Also more democratic oversight is better than less. Do not diminish public participation.

We need to uphold protections to prevent future spills, not create shortcuts to bypass the review process and essentially undo the last 40 years of improvements that the Ministry of the Environment has worked for. Read more

I am absolutely against the suggested changes to the Environmental Protection Act. This is not a safe way to go about "streamlining". Public consultation and input is critical to ensure proper development. Read more

I DO NOT SUPPORT these regulatory amendments to the Environmental Protection Act. I am deeply concerned about the potential harm and damage to the environment and species at risk, as well as the risks to human health and the potentially devastating impacts on rural agriculture and eco-tourism. This seems like a short sighted proposal considering average rainfall is increasing. Will houses built under this regulation be covered under insurance? Or will insurance companies use this as an excuse to deny the inevitable claims that will result? Read more

This is a terrible idea that will cause undue harm to the environment that future generations will have to deal with. Just because one person wanted to jam policy through that would allow for him and his buddies to make more money, while the rest of the province and cities within it suffer for it. Read more

I strongly oppose this proposal. With the intensification of weather events, stormwater management will be increasingly critical to maintaining the safety and habitability of new developments. Putting the responsibility and regulation of compliance on developers is not sufficient. Read more
