Bill 212 is a complete overreach by the Province and quite absurd of a request for time saving. Removal of bike lanes, won't actually reduce the time it takes to commute throughout Toronto but instead will put more Toronto lives at risk. Read more

As a taxpayer, I am disappointed to see my tax dollars spent on removing important bike lanes in Toronto. I do not think that this is a good way to spend public money, especially since it will not substantially reduce driving times. Read more

The stated, abstract objective of this Act is to reduce “gridlock,” using means which are proven to be detrimental to public health and safety, mobility and access to Ontario communities for all people, environmental protection, and will aid in worsening the ongoing climate emergency. Read more

We absolutely cannot be removing bikelanes on Bloor. There are over 12 new condos within a 700m radius of Bloor and Islington being constructed and all these individuals cannot be expected to use vehicles. Our world is changing and we need to keep bikelanes to support the mode shift we need. Read more

The removal of environmental review for any project through direct legislation is a farce of government. This bill should be resoundingly rejected and a more limited scope be presented in the replacement bill.

This is an obvious and ridiculous provincial overreach founded on Doug Ford’s individual election interests - not the interests of people living in Ontario and most certainly not the interests of people living in Toronto. Read more

Introducing bike lanes on major arteries has been shown to reduce congestion and provide meaningful alternatives to using cars. The goal should be to reduce car demand to alleviate traffic congestion, which is what bike lanes serve to do. Read more

The province should not be involved in the approval of bicycle lanes. This is unnecessary red tape that I believe will slow the approval of future road construction within municipalities and in turn could slow the construction of new residential, commercial or industry areas. Read more

I cannot support allowing environmental assessments to be skipped for a project as large as the 413. Ignoring the impact this highway will have is incredibly short sighted. Read more

Removing an existing, safe and protected bike lane is going backwards. How will we ever meet our environmental targets and protect those on bikes if we remove existing bike lanes.

I have been biking in Toronto for the past 5 years. Commuting on bike has majorly improved my mental health. When physical activity is part of my commute, I feel more energetic when I get to work and more healthy. Read more

This is terrible legislation. Municipalities should not need provincial approval for bike lanes. Highways should not be exempt from environmental assessments. Read more
