This is a monumental waste of time; stop wasting our taxpayer's money on evaluating things we know as a society works.
Bike lanes work. Re-evaluating them at a provincial level is pointless. Let cities and municipalities make the decisions, not the province.

I believe that it is extremely short sighted to blame the increase in traffic on bike lanes rather than on insufficient infrastructure investment during extreme population growth. The only solution to traffic is having viable alternatives to driving.

For most municipalities, adding bike lanes has been part of well thought out strategic plans. Their locations are carefully chosen, with consideration given to traffic flow and cyclist safety. Bike lanes are also an important part of curbing dependence on cars in urban areas.

This bill a provincial overstep and a completely backwards logic if the province cares about road safety and climate change. We must stop car-centric development and shift away from the current status quo of providing road space solely for drivers.

The province should NOT be involved in municipalities' infrastructure decisions. All the research shows that bikes lanes do not increase congestion and we must start making drastic changes to slow climate change.

I don’t own a bike but think bike lanes improve my drive particularly in downtown Toronto where I work and live. I drive around the city and the GTA for work and am by far more comfortable on roads with dedicated bike lanes. This proposal is absurd.

As someone who has professional experience, and has worked in traffic management, this proposal is a mistake. If the desire is to reduce traffic and congestion it will fail at its goal. The purpose of bike lanes is to give people viable alternatives to cars, so fewer people drive.

Bike lane are a growing necessity in large cities. As city traffic grows due to rising populations and workforce more people will be commuting.

Hello!
We support bike lanes.
We know from evidence that bike lanes help to:
- reduce gridlock
- reduce greenhouse gases
- get people moving faster

Induced demand. The same reason why Doug Ford’s 413 highway is a bad idea is why bike lanes in Toronto are needed to reduce traffic congestion.
Ford government has had many bad ideas over the years (greenbelt, Ontario place, tumnel under 401), but this is by far the worse..
The data is there for everyone to see. Adding bike lanes to a road converts drivers into cyclists and reduces the number of vehicle trips on a given stretch of road, full stop.

I do not agree with this proposal. I do not believe the province should have any say over traffic planning and bike lanes in the city. The city is much better equipped to make these decisions than a disconnected province.

I couldn't hate this more. The province meddling in municipal politics over a couple lanes of traffic is absurd. The idea that these few lanes will fix car congestion is either deluded or a cynical political wedge issue.

Municipalities should be able to determine what transportation needs best suit their cities. Just because the current government does not agree with green alternatives taking up space, it does not mean the constituents feel this is a waste of space.

People should have the right to live in municipalities that collectively have chosen to give more space to bikes. This bill proposes removing that right. This bill is designed to please a minority of Ontarians by limiting the freedoms other all Ontarians.

Terrible idea. I vote for my municipal representatives to do a good job at city planning, but now the provincial government wants to also spend more tax money by adding even more layers of bureaucracy and complication.

Bike lines provide a safe infrastructure for people to use alternate forms of transportation. The hon. Doug Ford himself experienced this himself with the Hon. Jagmeet Singh riding bike shares. The Transit options are limited and cycling is often the fastest way around the city.

This act is redicul and populist. Again, the province supports one mode of transportation (the mode that causes environmental problems, safety issues to vulnerable road users).
